Guan Gong Ch'an Buddhism |
| Welcome
Welcome to a virtual temple for the study of Guan Gong Ch'an Buddhism "You have to consider the possibility that God doesn't like you. He hates you. This is not the worst thing that can happen. His hate is better that His indifference. We are God's middle children, with no special place in history and no special attention. Unless we get God's attention, we have no hope of damnation or redemption. The lower you fall, the higher you fly. The farther you run, the more God wants you back." -- Tyler Dirden (from the film Fight Club) Welcome to my humble web site. I sincerely hope your visit here will prove beneficial. This web site is a seed that I have planted on the Internet, and you, the reader, are like the sunshine and the rain. Together we can make it grow into a giant tree, that will provide shade for many, and, which in turn will produce millions of seeds and, ultimately, will transform the world into a forest. What is this web site about? It is about religion, philosophy, politics, simplicity, strange and bizarre concepts, God and man and war, music, sex, higher states of consciousness, mutations, transformations, human evolution, myths and heroes, memes, weapons of mass destruction, saving the environment, freeing your mind, world domination, culture, history, and much, much, more -- You could even say that this web site is Weltanschauung 101 (or perhaps, to some, "Room 101" straight out of the George Orwell’s novel, "1984"). Out of the swirling cosmos, life's maze of chaos and confusion, a new discipline is being born; one that rejects the non-essential and seeks to establish some semblance of order in a world gone mad. It is Spartan in its economy, austerity and self-reliance; it is Zen in its beautiful simplicity; and, whether or not it succeeds in establishing a new order of things, it is the discipline itself that is important. There is a thin line between genius and insanity (and we are going to walk that line) -- to be safe we must always err on the side of indifference! Remembering, at all times, that common, everyday, worldlings are not "crazy", in the classic sense, that would be an improvement -- they are just mediocre and boring—spending all their valuable time on this earth seeking after impermanent things, and trying to satisfy the insane cravings of their egos. Obviously, it hasn’t occurred to them that those cravings can never be satisfied. Insanity is marked by the desire for material objects that serve no real purpose, have no function, are illogical, and have a connection to an imaginary world. Therefore, we must beware of twisted desires, altered states of consciousness, the urge for an object because it "looks weird", and try to focus on the idea that Art can be a trap door that leads to the lunatic asylum! Some people are limited by their beliefs, and insecure in their sexuality, so they try to impose fake morals on the rest of us to cover up their own lameness and inadequacy. The result: universal hypocrisy (phoniness) that permeates our society and stifles all creativity. We must learn to use our common sense, if there is any common sense at all left in the world, in order to, instinctively, separate the real from the unreal. Here's how it works: Insanity is a rubber chicken, genius is an artificial chicken (or textured vegetable protein), and mediocrity is a fast food chicken. Therefore, if we err on the side of indifference we'll be eating fried chicken at the Colonel's (KFC), if not, we'll be munching on a rubber chicken in some dark corner of the lunatic asylum. :-) Usually, when people are interested in something, that thing is already something they have in mind. In other words, "Like seeks like." So don't rush out and buy the manual. It will never live up to your expectations. Instead, use your own ideas to project your vision of reality into the world. Remember the formula: K.I.S.S. (Keep It Simple Stupid). Simplicity is the key to almost everything; complexity, on the other hand, always creates a tangled web of confusion. Simplicity is geometrical (in reverse); nonetheless, the important thing is to master the basics first and everything else will fall into place. But be warned, if you skip over the fundamentals you'll spend your whole life trying to discover them. Grasp the fundamentals and you will have a firm foundation on which to build. When men and women worry overmuch about what to eat, what to wear, and where they will lay their heads, they become preoccupied with the trivial and lose sight of the one true path. Part of the cure for complexity in the modern world is to quit worrying, and realize that you are capable of dealing with any crisis that comes up. Trust in yourself, in your teacher, in your friends and relatives, and in the Universe. Don't worry, in the shortest possible time you will become confident and secure in a pristine state (simple, plain and course—the proverbial block of "uncarved wood"), eating wholesome, plain, nutritious, food; wearing simple, unadorned, clothing; and living in an efficient, adequate, dwelling -- like modern-day Samurai! (The Samurai had the right idea -- as long as they eschewed materialism!) Moreover, you will be armed and ready (at least psychologically) to "take over the world", whether or not you take prisoners is up to you. But all this is merely a prelude for the real thing, the magnum opus of all of our collective efforts, the raison d'etre, the ultimate reality, the path that leads to enlightenment... I cannot order you there, or carry you on my back, or force you to go forward, I can only be a guide who points the way. I can only be a friend, a lover, a teacher, a cheerleader -- it is you who must fight the dragons of this world! Think about it: Our society is pulling in so many different directions at once, and generating a myriad of ideas... Some will be obsolete in the future while others will be the dominant factors, nobody knows for sure what the future will be like, but I have pledged myself to the creation of a world that is better in every way than the present one. I perceive that our society is drifting toward a new kind of fascism and a feudal form of corporate capitalism, and I am unsettled by this trend. Therefore, my allegiance is to the children of the future, and not to the tyrants of the present. I hope I can influence you to feel the same, and, consequently to work for the liberation of both your own mind and the minds of others. Welcome to my honest and humble effort—I hope your visit is a pleasant one. |
